CLIENT NEWS: Jasmine Crowe & GOODR taking the food and tech industry by storm

Photo: Jasmine Crowe Instagram

I first met Jasmine Crowe in 2013 as the owner of Black Celebrity Giving where she would quickly become a client where one of my first tasks was drafting a letter to ensure she would be able to continue to utilize an empty parking lot to feed hundreds in downtown Atlanta with food she was personally cooking every week in her home.

Fast forward to 2017 and her passion for ensuring no one spends a night hungry has taken the food and tech industry by storm with her GOODR app. Jasmine and her team have won several major pitch competitions, hundreds of thousands in startup funds, and countless startup awards and features.  Super excited for the future of her app and grateful to lend my legal lenses to play a small part in making the world a better place.

Here is an excerpt from her recent feature on Black Enterprise:

Founded in Atlanta,  Goodr is a real-time food rescue app that works like Uber or Lyft, using the shared economy to bridge the gap on hunger. Schools, event planners, restaurants, chefs, hotels, and even hospitals can order a rescue driver at any time of the day to pick up surplus food. The app then directs that food to homeless shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, and more.
Since 2013, Jasmine has been vested in the fight against hunger and homelessness. Through an initiative she created called Sunday Soul with her company Black Celebrity Giving, she’s cooked and served over 30,000 meals to those experiencing hunger. Crowe has partnered with several celebrities, including hip hop star Future; business mogul, Grammy-winning songwriter, and TV star Kandi Burruss, and R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn. She’s also engaged over 1500 volunteers in five U.S. cities, as well as hosted endeavors in Haiti and the U.K.
